Born in Bangalore, India, Deepti Navaratna is a Carnatic classical vocalist. She is the recipient of numerous awards throughout her musical career; prominent among them being the All India Radio National Music Award in the categories of Carnatic music and light classical music. She was selected to perform at the National Youth Festival conducted by the Government of India at Banaras in 1999 and 2001. An A-grade artiste of All India Radio since 2000, she has enthralled audiences both in India and abroad. In line with her long-term goal to familiarize Carnatic music to eclectic audiences, she has given several lecture demonstrations on elements of Carnatic performance and theory in the United States. With a flair to teach and share her gift, she has designed and taught courses on Carnatic music at several educational institutions in the United States. Currently, a faculty at the LearnQuest Music Academy in Boston, she offers Carnatic vocal music instruction at various locations in the Greater Boston area.
